Job Description
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Support Workers to join our Supported Living service in Preston , Lancashire. You will be supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and/or physical disabilities to live as independently as possible within their own homes.
This role includes day shifts from 8:00am to 8:00pm and sleep-in shifts, providing reassurance and on-call support overnight.
Key Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, your duties will include:
- Providing person-centred care and support in line with individual support plans
- Supporting individuals with daily living tasks such as:
- Personal care (where required)
- Meal preparation and healthy eating
- Medication prompts and administration (after training)
- Household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping
- Supporting individuals to:
- Access the community, attend appointments, and social activities
- Develop independence, life skills, and confidence
- Maintain relationships with family and friends
- Promoting choice, dignity, independence, and respect at all times
- Maintaining accurate daily records, incident reports, and support notes
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, healthcare professionals, and families
- Following safeguarding procedures, health & safety policies, and company policies
- Providing on-call support during sleep-in shifts and responding appropriately to any needs or emergencies overnight
Shift Details
- Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
- Sleep-in shifts: Overnight stay at the service, with on-call responsibility
- Flexible rota including weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays
Person SpecificationEssential:
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work long day shifts and sleep-in shifts
- A flexible and reliable approach to work
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Previous experience in supported living, care, or a similar role
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs
- Full UK driving licence
