Job Description

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Support Workers to join our Supported Living service in Preston , Lancashire. You will be supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and/or physical disabilities to live as independently as possible within their own homes.


This role includes day shifts from 8:00am to 8:00pm and sleep-in shifts, providing reassurance and on-call support overnight.


Key Responsibilities

As a Support Worker, your duties will include:

  • Providing person-centred care and support in line with individual support plans
  • Supporting individuals with daily living tasks such as:
  • Personal care (where required)
  • Meal preparation and healthy eating
  • Medication prompts and administration (after training)
  • Household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping
  • Supporting individuals to:
  • Access the community, attend appointments, and social activities
  • Develop independence, life skills, and confidence
  • Maintain relationships with family and friends
  • Promoting choice, dignity, independence, and respect at all times
  • Maintaining accurate daily records, incident reports, and support notes
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, healthcare professionals, and families
  • Following safeguarding procedures, health & safety policies, and company policies
  • Providing on-call support during sleep-in shifts and responding appropriately to any needs or emergencies overnight

Shift Details

  • Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
  • Sleep-in shifts: Overnight stay at the service, with on-call responsibility
  • Flexible rota including weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays

Person SpecificationEssential:

  • A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work long day shifts and sleep-in shifts
  • A flexible and reliable approach to work
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in supported living, care, or a similar role
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs
  • Full UK driving licence
